What Are My Insurance Needs?
by MarketProSecure UK
Insurance needs vary according to the circumstances of the individual and their household.
For example anyone with a car is legally required to have insurance to be on the road. At the very least this must cover third party claims for possible damage to their property or injury to themselves. It should also compensate you in the event of damage to or theft of your own vehicle. As a rule of thumb you should take out the most comprehensive policy you can afford, based on the value of your car.
Some form of life insurance is a very good idea for everyone, but is particularly important for those of us with a family. There are two basic types of life insurance.
Whole life policies have no surrender value and premiums are payable throughout the life of the insured person. Premiums are not too high because there is no cash value in the policy itself and it only pays out following the death of the holder. The benefit sum payable to dependents in the event of the death of the policyholder can be quite substantial in proportion to premium payment costs.
Term Life insurance policies are more like savings or investment instruments. They run for a limited period and at the end of this the policyholder is paid a lump sum. This can vary according to the performance of investments made by the insurer. Premiums here are much higher and the level of benefit payable on the death of the policyholder is generally not as high as with a whole life policy.
For every homeowner, home insurance is a must, and again we would recommend you be prepared to spend the maximum you can afford to protect your home, it’s occupants and contents. Compare the offers available in order to find the best value for money you can.
UK Health insurance is also a very good idea. There are various packages on offer that allow you to complement or upgrade from the standard NHS service. Illness cover can also protect your income if you are unable to work for some time.
